FSA, and HSA

An FSA or Flexible Spending Account is a private account offered by your employer.  It allows you to save money before taxes that can be used for medical expenses.  Flexible Spending Accounts are often used in combination with your insurance to help take care of out-of-pocket expenses for eye exams, glasses, and contact lenses. To know if you are eligible for an FSA, talk with your benefits administrator at your company.

An HSA or Health Savings Account is similar to an FSA in that the money is set aside before taxes and can be used to cover out-of-pocket health care costs not covered by insurance.  You can be eligible to set-up an HSA if you have a high-deductible health plan and are under the age of 65. Health Savings Accounts do not need to be through your employer, though that is an option.
