What’s so important about an eye exam?

The eyes are an important window into a person’s heath since the eye is the only place in the body where a doctor can have a clear view of the blood vessels, nerves and connecting tissue. During a Comprehensive Digital Eye Exam, the doctor will evaluate vision issues and eye diseases, and may identify early warning signs and manifestations of diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and cancer.

In general we recommend a Comprehensive Eye Exam every 12 – 24 months. However, depending on your situation (e.g. family history of eye disease, past history of problems, etc.), and/or if you wear eyeglasses, and/or if you are over the age of 40, we recommend a Comprehensive Eye Exam every 12 months. Contact lenses wearers should have a Contact Lens Exam every year.
